Progress on the small Biogas plant will appear here.
The design is my own, based on extensive web-research. The illustration on this page shows only the first stage – there will be another drum essentially the same, except that it will be fed by the overflow from this one. The basic idea is to ensure that the effluent is fully digested before being released to the catch-tanks, but my budget doesn’t allow for the construction of a large concrete digester, nor a large floating dome gas storage tank. Adopting a modular approach will allow for relatively easy expansion of the plant as necessary – or moving it to another site, leaving only a hole in the ground.
The real innovation is the modular water-ballasted gas storage system – but I’ll wait until it has been tested before saying too much more about it!
